Cat Deeley and husband Patrick Kielty split after 13 years as pair issue joint statement

Presenter Cat Deeley and her husband Patrick Kielty have announced they are separating.

The couple have been married since 2012 and confirmed on Tuesday, July 29 in a joint statement that they would be going their separate ways.

They explained: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.

“We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.”

Rumours that the couple had split began earlier this year after fans noticed Deeley didn’t attend Kielty’s mother’s funeral.

The pair have two sons, eight-year-old Milo and five-year-old James.

It is understood Deeley stayed at home to support the two children during the funeral, which took place in County Down in February.

At the time, a spokesperson for Deeley told the Daily Mail: “Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.”

The two met back in 2002 while hosting BBC’s Fame Academy, but they didn’t became a couple until a decade later.

After years of friendship, they began a romance after Kielty flew all the way from Belfast to Los Angeles for brunch with Deeley.

The pair married in Rome in a secret ceremony with just close friends and family present.

Deeley and Kielty spent most of their marriage in California, living in the US state for more then 14 years before selling their Beverly Hills mansion for $4.9million in 2020.

They then returned to England, moving back to North London as Deeley shortly before Deeley secured her new presenting role at ITV’s This Morning.

Earlier this year, Kielty opened up about going through a tough time as a couple.

Before she joined This Morning, Deeley hosted So You Think You Can Dance in the US.

Reflecting on a difficult period in late 2023, Kielty noted: “There was a moment after Christmas that was tricky.

“She had to fly to Atlanta for seven weeks. There was a wee bit of a juggle there.

“But I think with all these things, as long as you have a routine, it doesn’t take as much fizz out of you as some people think.

He went on to say of Deeley’s This Morning gig: “Because Cat’s doing her stuff in the morning, she would normally be back just after lunchtime.

“And we’ve got the start of the week and the weekends together, so it’s not ‘Hi/bye,'” MailOnline reports.
