Kaleb Cooper makes worrying admission as Clarkson’s Farm star reflects on ‘two bad years’ of farming

Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper shared a concerning update about farming following a tough year for Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm.

The 27-year-old reflected on the potential impact of facing “two bad years”.

Mr Cooper has become a household name since making his screen debut on the first series of Clarkson’s Farm in 2021.

The show, which is currently filming for its fifth series, follows father-of-three Mr Cooper as he aids former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson, 65, at the Costwolds farm.

Since shooting to fame, Mr Cooper has also released several books, with his debut children’s book, Kaleb’s Farmyard Tales, scheduled to hit the shops this week.

Promoting the book on Wednesday, September 10, the farmer admitted during an interview that times have been tough.

He reflected: “Farming on a yearly basis is getting harder and harder with the weather.

“For example, farmers have had two bad years. Last year, we had an incredibly bad year because of too much rain, and then this year, not enough rain.”

Speaking to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, he continued: “Therefore, that’s two bad years on the run.

“I don’t believe too many farmers are going to survive that. We can survive one bad year, but two bad years on the run is hard work.”

However, he offered a positive spin on the lifestyle, adding: “But at the same time, it’s amazing.

“I woke up this morning, got the cows in the background. I’m going to feed all the cows today, it’s something I love doing and I speak very [passionately] about it because I enjoy it.”

Mr Cooper and fiancée Taya welcomed their third child, Ashton, just last month.

The couple also share son Oscar, who was born in 2021 and daughter Willa, welcomed in 2023.

Chatting about the likelihood of his children going into farming in the future, he told the presenters: “It would be great. But at the same time, I’ve always said this – I never want to push my kids into something they don’t want to do.

“I’m a firm believer that if you wake up and go, ‘I’ve got to go to work today,’ I think you’re firmly in the wrong job.

“I wake up and go, ‘What am I doing today?’ So, therefore, I know I’m in the right job.”

Mr Cooper also referenced his annoyance over US Vice President JD Vance’s recent trip to the Cotswolds this summer.

“Yeah, well, if he drove around in a VW Polo, I’m sure no one would know who he was, and he’d have had a lovely holiday, and every local would have had a lovely time as well.

“And he was blocking your tractor, wasn’t he?” Mr Balls pointed out.

“Yeah, there was an incident where he blocked my tractor, and I wasn’t too happy about it,” he admitted.
